Recently NASA held a competition to design a conceptual Mars habitat using 3D modeling software with a focus on 3D printing construction technologies. It’s incredible to see current technological processes being used to conceptualize dwellings and habitats on another planet.
Nasa chose 3 teams as finalists to share a 100,000 prize into thinking what would life be on Mars. They had to design full-scale living spaces using modeling software and were graded predominantly on their aesthetic representation and realism.
The chosen ideas range from modular pods, using 3D printing as a construction tool and even, reusing parts of the transportation vehicles. Each design took into consideration the work & living spaces required by the population and how the community can grow within the proposed system. These proposals might also be able to be implemented on other planets and space bodies such as the moon.
