Recent Project: Outdoor Cloud Lighting Installation for Rooftop Bar, 40Kong in Dubai
40 Kong is an outdoor rooftop lounge and restaurant, located at One Sheikh Zayed Road, the centre of Dubai's busiest business district. 40 Kong is a timeless melting pot of the 202 nationalities living in the world’s fastest growing metropolis, all seeking to come together and enjoy this inspiring city’s skyline from a different height. It features distinctive landscaping, low lounge areas and high-bar seating with an uninterrupted access to the bright lights of the city.
The Project
The client for this project was looking for an installation to go above a DJ booth to celebrate their recently renovated rooftop bar.
The Challenges
At 40 floors up and with exposure to extreme weather and dust, these Clouds needed to be more durable than anything we had done before. We explored several techniques to make that happen and ultimately arrived at our 'Bubble Clouds' design. We used heavy duty acrylic domes to encase each individual cloud and developed hardware to hang and wire them into one incredible installation.
In addition to creating these unique ‘Bubble Clouds' for the first time, we also created a custom set of features and color mixes for this project to help reference the branding of 40Kong. This was also our first project in the UAE, which in and of itself set this project apart from anything else we had ever done.
The Clouds at 40Kong
Roosted on the 40th floor of The H Dubai with stunning panoramic views of the city, this bar is a premier destination for tourists that starts at sunset and serves into the wee hours of the night, making it the ultimate late-night hangout. Our Clouds definitely fit right in and we could not be more delighted to have been able to work on such an innovative project.
